My recent craze is to try and fit as much as possible in the smallest amount of space.
I managed to pack for a 3 day camp in a tiny day pack, while others had hefty suitcases. I even managed to bring games, and tons of stuff to play when we got there.
Everyone looked at me like I was amazing, with my small bag and all.
Packing light is so much fun, and I think you should try it too.
But, this made me think, what about all the stuff I have at home?
Do I really need my ornaments, or mini lamp, or an amazing semi precious gemstone.
What if I sold these things, or gave them away to charity...
And next time, why don't I not buy that nice dog ornament, or opt out of paying more for a "precious memory reminder", and give it to church instead.
If I can live like that, it will be better. Less cleaning too!
I hope that next time, my memory will be enough without a "special ornament".

I agree with your post, but . . . I have a small studio; we make ceramic products, if nobody bought our work, we would not make a living. I KNOW many of us have more than we need, but you might be helping someone next time you buy that "little memory”. Is that not also a way of giving? It does not have to be to the church to be good.
We have many “self help” groups in our country that makes things to sell to help feed poor communities. (somewhere on my blog pages I show work we donated to auction for a place that helps children; someone has to buy the work . . .)
Maybe we should be more selective on what and where we buy, but don’t stop your support altogether.
I’m just saying . . .

Yes, I think it is a good idea to support shops that we like, but what about as a gift to a friend? Then we can share the love around, and the shop is supported.
Really, I don't plan to make a huge reform so people stop buying things, but we can at least be more thankful about what we already have.
