A Rainy Day

This is a poem I wrote when it was raining very heavily, and everyone seemed downcast. It is me trying to appreciate the rain more. I hope you can too.

The grass thirsts
the rain falls
A symphony
in nature's halls

I listen for
the great applause
But all I hear
is the sound of wars

I pray to God
for rain to fall
And wash away
these prison walls

To bring the joy
back to the rain
So we can enjoy it
Once again

  1. Amazing.
I think everyone sees rain as dull and depressing because it's steals away all the sunshine.
I, personally, like the rain because it can be soothing and it's the perfect weather to just relax.
Your poem captured all these emotions perfectly. Good job :)

  3. The rain can conjure up so many different feelings for each of us but ultimately rain is a blessing (although many of us might curse it on occasion!). When it's present most of us want it to go away and when it's absent for a long while, that's when we miss it the most! Let's just try to be grateful when it falls which is more easily said than done!

I enjoyed this delightful poem and thanks for sharing these words.

  5. It's beautiful! I love poems but I never tried writing one. Maybe I should. I've heard a lot about Haiku - it's supposed to be easier..

    Loved this part:

    "I pray to God
    for rain to fall
    And wash away
    these prison walls"

I'm so glad we had the opportunity of getting to know each other. Internet is such an amazing thing. Hope we can keep in touch!

    Many blessings!
